Yale University – Yale Health, Student Health Medical Assistant (Part Time) Salary: $26.46 per hour ($26.99 once candidate obtains ARMA registration/AAMA certification or if already registered/certified by either of these credentialing agencies) Benefits – Yale University offers excellent benefits. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, a 24/7 Acute Care Department, a 17-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy. Position Focus: As a member of the care team in Student Health at Yale Health the Medical Assistant will assist in providing seamless, coordinated, and compassionate care at every patient encounter. Responsibilities include: Provide care to patients as directed by nursing and clinician staff. Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environment for patient care. Provide clinical and administrative support to the front desk of Student Health. This includes greeting patients, checking demographic data, answer the telephone and route calls as appropriate. Rooms patients for clinician visits, including but not limited to the following: Measure and record vital signs. Collect specimens. Perform EKGs. Provide routine information related to medical treatments and procedures. Select and lay out medical supplies. Maintain medical equipment. Perform low level disinfection of exam with each patient use. Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies. Perform clerical functions related to medical activities. Actively assists in processing external referrals. Return calls to patients as directed by nursing and clinician staff. Maintains dirty and clean utility areas. Access the EMR as appropriate. Respond to tasks and messages. Participation in Yale Health Plan meetings as a member representative. Assist in Chaperone Program for sensitive exams. Floating to assist in other Yale Health Departments as needed. Qualifications: • Two years of related work experience and a high school level education; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. • Demonstrated ability to perform in very busy medical clinic. Ability to multitask and provide support to multiple clinicians as needed. • Data entry skills associated with the use of computers in scheduling and collecting data for department programs. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on customer service experience. • Demonstrated ability with proper labeling and handling of specimens. Demonstrated ability in assisting with surgical procedures. • Ability to perform EKG testing. Knowledge of electronic medical records system. • Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance. Excellent attendance and reliability. • Experience with EPIC (preferred). • Required Licenses or Certifications Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants or American Registry of Medical Assistants (or ability to get certification/registration within 90 days of employment).
