4/13/2012 1:29:02 PM | I'm 54 yrs old and want to become a medical assistant. Is this practical? If not would I have a better chance at becoming a LPN? I’m a male would that be held against me? Thank you.

4/16/2012 1:29:02 PM | I'm 52 and technically I became a medical assistant just two years ago (I was a Navy Hospital Corpsman for 26 years which is very similar to an MA). Medical Assistant classes will probably be appreciably easier than LPN classes but an LPN license will pay better than an MA certification. LPNs are typically credentialed to perform more complicated job tasks than MAs. Being a male has no bearing, some kinds of jobs may prefer a male MA such as neuropsychology. Research your training and employment options carefully. Good luck! | | |
